Buying and selling property in Manchester and the North West
Manchester is known for its cosmopolitan charisma. It is often compared to London as a city with culture and is home to Mancunian poet Tony Walsh.
Manchester is full of history and over the years has harnessed its past to cultivate its forward-thinking property landscape and new builds. The industrial past has lay foundation to the character of a lot of the new city centre residential property, whilst bringing to the forefront the hidden gems in areas such as Ancoats, where the regeneration of the area has given it a diverse appeal and ultimately created an urban cultural, residential and business hub. The famous Hacienda nightclub and music venue brought life, joy and soul to Manchester; without it Indie music would not have been born.
Manchester’s broad appeal has brought a vast interest from lucrative investors from across the world. Being the “capital of the North” there is always something special to entice the entrepreneur and in turn, offer consistent work and opportunities.
Manchester, and the wider North West, is also home to some top Universities making it a top choice for students. The standard of living and recreational pastimes available here are hard to match by other vibrant cities. As Tony Walsh says in his poem This Is The Place;
“Our inventions are legends. There’s nowt we can’t make, and so we make brilliant music”….
“And we make you at home
“And we make you feel welcome and we make summat happen
“And we can’t seem to help it”…
“And so this is the place to do business then dance, where go-getters and goal-setters know they’ve a chance.”
And so Manchester is investing in residential properties both in the city centre and its surrounding towns, to create a new future. The strategy is to increase the density of town centre living over the next 20 years. Aiming to offer an urban setting. Accessibility via the tram, or walkway from a new and renovated night spots, theatres and shopping destinations.
Popular areas to live in and around Manchester
One of the many benefits of Manchester is how close you are to countless beauty spots and small hamlets just a few miles out of the city, not a commute away as with London. These rural-feel, open green spaces, moorland, country parks and canals feel a world away from the urban centre of Manchester, yet are still only a 15-30 minute drive from the city centre. There are 22 National Trust sites in the Manchester area alone. This sort of rural access is high on the agenda of all socio-economic groups. The Metrolink tram system bridges the gap for those needing speedy and easy access to the city centre from surrounding boroughs such as Bury, Rochdale, Stockport and many more Greater Manchester destinations.
Walkden and Worsley
Walkden is another example of a Greater Manchester suburb to benefit from a direct train route and dedicated, modernised bus inks as well as having close access to the motorway networks such as the M60 into the city and the M6 and M62 to travel across the rest of the North West.
As well as appealing transport links, Worsley is home to an affluent population, including some famous footballers. Amongst the elite, particularly in the Walkden and Little Hulton areas, you will find great investment opportunities. Walkden has some excellent schools in the area with high OFSTED reports. Living in the area will always go in your favour for in-demand school places. Having its own shopping district, the area also boasts streets full of character; old, listed buildings used for local businesses, cafes and restaurants.
The area is a great place to work and visit, and a sought-after place to live.
Eccles and Monton
A quaint setting you could use in a movie, Eccles and Monton offer a shopping and café culture by day and a vibrant restaurant and bar scene by night. A more affluent alternative to Walkden but still a great to investment location due to its close proximity (15 minutes) to the Trafford Centre and 10 minutes to major road links. The area is a popular destination with the older generation for its beauty and calm demeanour. It is a picturesque area with Tudor buildings along a sweeping canal and green banks.
